First Time Sex - Losing your Virginity

First time sex is never as straightforward as most people believe. In fact, the expectations usually far exceed the experience. For the male, it may be over all too soon, without a great deal of satisfaction.

Lets look at first time sex from both a male and female perspective and how to approach this critical time in all our lives.

For the female, it can be fraught with pain instead of pleasure, and with a quick ending, far from a pleasurable experience. Approached correctly, however, first time sex can be rewarding and fulfilling instead of the opposite.

The Virgin Male

Depending on where his information can from (about the sexual experience) his basic knowledge will be limited to theory and masturbation.

Neither theory nor masturbation prepares a virgin male for a first time sexual experience.

The conversations of peers also can fill the first timer with misconceptions and wrong expectations.

The Virgin Female

Depending on her age, the virgin female may have had numerous clitoral orgasms. A first time sexual experience and “the force of man” can provide many unexpected situations, and feelings.

If her hymen is in tact, she may be in for some real pain as well.

If there has not been sufficient foreplay, there may not also enough lubrication prior to the male insertion.
The female may be very young and also with high expectations. Certainly if the act is about 20 seconds, and all she felt was pain and pressure, her romantic expectations will not have been fulfilled.

Preparation

It is advised that the couple experiment first with mutual masturbation.

This way the partner learns something about the other’s anatomy, and the stimulation (which can be overwhelming) can result in orgasms without penetration at the start.

This technique can lead into another session (after some recovery time, say 45 minutes) where penetration can begin.

The female should insist (and the male must agree) to use of a condom.

However in a warm-up session (that will almost always end up with a male orgasm), a condom need not be used.

In the second or third attempt, where penetration is the goal, the male’s penis would have been desensitized by the all the preliminaries.

Oral sex for first timers is a good idea, but difficult to be good at.

With two inexperienced partners, oral sex or mutual oral sex may end up as a messy and non-romantic prelude to penetration.

Therefore, unless one of the two partners really have some experience in oral sex, it’s best left for another time.

Time to Penetrate

If the female is a virgin with her hymen intact, the couple should use Astrolube or KY (or similar) that will help reduce the initial friction.

With adequate lubrication (and the female wont have much of her own if she is afraid of the act, even though she is willing. Use adequate lubrication.

The best first time sex position is with the female laying her side, and the male in back of her, with their legs lightly bent at the knees.

The couple sort of resembles 2 spoons. The male can caress the female, and hold her, while the female can assist the male to insert his penis easily into her vagina.

As the couple is on their sides, the female can sort of regulate the pressure, and the depth o f the male’s penetration.

If she feels pain, the female can alter the depth of the penis and even the angle.

Usually the first times will finish in less than 5 minutes. The man can continue to hold the female tightly and caress here, and tell to her sweet things about their experience.

Following the above will save the couple some pain and hurt feelings. We wish you good luck, and hope to what you learned here into your later sexual lives.

Are You Her Best Lover Ever?

As a sexologist, I talk to many men and women about sex. One thing that always strikes me is that most couples do not explore the true power of sexuality. Studies have shown that after 2 or 3 years of marriage, the women's interest in sex drops off about 50%.

In my private practice, I have yet to meet a married woman that is totally happy with the depth she is going in her lover life. I offer tantric massage to some women clients, and in 2 hours she can have the deepest, orgasmic experiences in her life. Many times, just one deep session causes her to make profound changes in her relationships as she gets more into her feminine power.

What are some of the keys for women to go deeper into her amazing erotic energy? I believe a woman has the potential to be 100 or even 1000 times more sexual than a man. I have experiences women having one-hour orgasms and even having orgasms just walking down the street.

Men too can have orgasms with no ejaculating and have waves and waves or these orgasms with no loss of energy. When a man can make love for hours and hours and have intense, deep valley orgasms the women just loves you so much. Men can learn to ride the waves of the women's orgasms for hours too.

What are some keys for women to go deeper? For deep valley orgasmic experiences, I feel a woman has to totally let go and surrender to her self. Unfortunately, most women seem to hold a lot of negative emotions in their body and do not feel safe to totally let go. Many women have had some experience of sexual abuse too. Deep tissue massage and body work is one method that can release these emotions. Something it can take 6 to 20 massage sessions to release these long held emotions. Rebirthing and breath work is another method I use in my private practice. Men too, have similar issues.

Some of these emotions are held in differing parts of the body. One area that many do not massage is surrounding the vulva and also inside the vulva and the g spot. In my private practice many times when touching these areas with presence and love, deep emotions get released. A lot of sadness, crying anger and grief can be released. After these get releases I find the client goes much deeper into her erotic energy.

Man and women that do not make noise during sex I believe block the energy moving in their bodies. Most men make love like they masturbate. They get in an energetic habit of coming too soon, and lack any emotional connection with their lover. The average man comes in 8 minutes in the USA. Most men make no sounds when the energy builds. The energy is in the sounds you make and your partner can feel more of your energy if you let it out.

Learn to let go more and make sounds are two keys to going deeper in your sexuality

Best Sexual Positions - Centuries Old But Still Great Postions Today!

Here we are going to look at some sexual positions from history that despite being thousands of years old are still popular today and give immense satisfaction to both men and women.

In 14th century Italy lived one of the greatest poets and writers of all time; the famous Giovanni Boccaccio.

In his timeless masterpiece, the Decameron, the reader finds 100 stories, covering a whole panorama of subjects.

Clothed in symbology, but clear nevertheless to the intellectual reader, one can find clear eroticism in a few of the stories.

Boccaccio was a master of language and symbolism, and was able to describe a sexual technique popular at the time.

It concerns two lovers' efforts to fill their sexual activity with great variety.

They appear to stumble on a position that enhances the grip the vagina has on the man's penis. This would be ideal for a man with a smaller (or in today's language, normal penis)

The Male Penis in the 13th and 14th Century

Not a great deal is known, as even preserved penises shrink to very small sizes (Napoleon who was reported to have a very large penis had his penis preserved after his death.

It is on show at a Paris museum. It is a poor blackened fossil of about 2 inches). The statues of the period (especially those of Michelangelo) show men with rather small and delicate penises.

The Sexual Position in Boccaccio

It appears the woman is on her back, with a pillow under her buttocks.

This raises her hips very much toward the man. The man is standing, and places himself between her legs.

He will lovingly raise the lady's thighs high as possible, pressing them even to her breasts. The man then grabs the lady's arms, in a loving embrace.

At this point, the man will penetrate the woman, finding this position has compressed her vagina, and making it very tight and close. The sensation is wonderful for both the man and woman.

The man should not thrust but press and rotate hips leaving his penis fully inserted.

This brings an exquisite pleasure to the woman as the man's penis is up against the g-spot and the man feels the full pressure from the vagina's muscles and compressed space.

The man must keep his penis fully inserted, and make false thrusts with his hips as pressure only.

The circular and gyrating motion of the man's hips can be fully reciprocated by that of the woman.

As this position is quite tiring for the woman, she usually will real her climax and crisis very quickly, and usually with whole body spasms.

Boccaccio suggests that after such lovemaking, the couple will lay together and gaze into each other's eyes, giving some spiritual pleasure to a transforming physical experience.

The couple should lie first in silence till their systems have returned to the quiet state. A gentle sleep can follow, taking the couple to even higher spiritual feeling.

After this small rest, the man (if he has slept, even for a moment) may find himself fully recovered for additional sexual activity.

The woman will also be quite ready. A repeat of the position above is not recommended, but a side-to-side position with rear entry.

Look Years Younger The Natural Way - Turn Back The Clock

You want to look younger than your years all your life? You can do this if you begin to live a healthy life from a young age.

It is every person's secret wish to find the elixir of eternal youth. Cosmetic companies work on this weakness to make big profits. However, it is not very difficult to look young if you live right. Looks can be compared to the savings a person makes. If you start saving at an early age, you can look forward to a comfortable retirement. Similarly, youth is an asset. If you squander it, you may regret it later. If you preserve it well when you have it, can be stretched to last - a long time. You can defy ageing by making certain lifestyle rules. It is vital to follow a disciplined lifestyle. Practise the following lifestyle rules to turn back the hands of the clock.

Avoid Excess sun:

Agreed that sunlight is essential for development but experiments have proved that a person gets the daily needed quota of vitamin K from 15 minutes in the sun. The ultraviolet rays in the sunlight harm the skin. Excess exposure may lead to cancer too. So, while venturing out, smother your skin with sunscreen. Use umbrellas and shades to keep those nasty UV rays off your lovely skin.

Eat right:

Eat healthy food and this will show on your skin. This does not mean that you have to follow a strict diet. In fact too severe a diet and a total lack of oils in food, robs your skin of its elasticity and glow. So, avoid crash diets. Vitamin C is good for the skin, so incorporate foods rich in it in your diet. Eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. Drink at least eight glasses of water daily. Avoid fried and spicy stuff in excess.

Diet supplements:

It is essential to supplement your diet with these additives for greater benefit. Vitamins give you vigour and glowing skin. Iron peps up your energy level, calcium is necessary for good bones and nails and Omega three will work wonders for your general well-being. Consult your doctor and ask him to prescribe the best combination for you.

Pamper your skin:

Nothing cuts down your age like a healthy glowing skin. Never step out without using a moisturiser. Use a sunscreen in the summers. Exfoliate once a week to remove dead skin. Use extra hydration for your hands, under the eyes and on your lips.

Exercise:

Besides getting rid of the extra calories, a regular exercising routine steps up your metabolism too. This revs up your circulation and gives you extra energy, vitality and a blooming complexion. Notice the people around you who move slowly, slouch and look much older than they are. A person who stands up straight and is agile looks much more youthful. Your body is machine that deteriorates if not used regularly. Some yogic exercises are said to retard ageing. Exercise at least three times a week for 30 minutes.

Sleep:

Your overworked body needs sleep to regain its vitality. Do not deprive yourself of sleep. Lack of proper sleep makes you sluggish and tired. Ensure that you have at least eight hours of peaceful sleep daily. Draw up a sleep routine and stick to it religiously. However exciting they might seem, frequent late night parties take their toll. Restrict them to once a week.

Keep stress at bay:

Notice how a problematic situation prematurely ages a person. Stress is one virus that eats up your vitality from within. The face is the mirror of the mind. A worried mind reflects worry on the face too. Avoid stress. This is easier said than done. Stress has became a way of life. You have to tutor your mind to stay away from unnecessary worry. Breathing exercises and yoga help. Keep yourself occupied, as an empty mind is a devil's workshop.

Enjoy life:

Try to extract the best out of life. If you are bored, it will reflect on your face. A person who is passionately involved in anything remains energetic. Find something that fires your imagination. If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Do not lose your vitality in the dreary desert sands of dead habit.

No smoking:

Apart from those much touted health hazards, smoking regularly leads to the formational feathery wrinkles along the upper lip. Lack of oxygen makes the skin sallow and dull. Smoking causes the lips to blacken too. These side effects of smoking are very difficult to reverse. Hence, it is advisable to refrain from smoking if you wish to preserve your youth and vigour.

Are You Getting Enough Beauty Sleep?

Can't get rid of those dark circles under your eyes? Before you spend money on expensive remedies or cosmetics, how about getting a little more sleep at night? One of our most basic beauty essentials is sleep!! (How often have you heard the phrase, " I need my beauty sleep"?)

Getting proper rest will not only make you feel better and reduce stress, it and can even help avoid weight gain and improve your performance at work and play. And yet the majority of Americans get at least one hour less sleep per night than they need, especially during the work week. Even if you can't find a way to get to bed earlier or sleep later, you can certainly take steps to improve the quality of your sleep.

Here are a few ways to fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly:

1. Develop a routine for going to bed at night, and be consistent about it. You might enjoy a cup of soothing herbal tea (no caffeine!) and a chapter from a favorite book before turning the lights out.

2. Try to exercise daily, but not within three to four hours of bedtime. Exercise has been shown to increase the amount of deep sleep you get. It can also reduce symptoms PMS in women, which can be uncomfortable enough to disrupt sleep.

3. Don't have a heavy meal right before going to bed. and avoid alcohol, nicotine and caffeine close to bedtime. These can all disturb sleep.

4. Don't use your sleep space as a workspace, and keep the TV out of the bedroom. You should associate your place for sleeping with sleep, not with work or entertainment (other than lovemaking, of course!).

5. Make the room as dark as possible. The less light there is around you, the more melatonin your brain produces. This hormone has been shown to help you feel sleepier, fall asleep faster, and make you sleep longer. Room darkening shades can help tremendously, but a sleep mask is also very effective and a lot cheaper!

6. Control noise levels. You may get so used to familiar sounds like street noise or the sound of someone's snoring that you don't even notice it anymore, but it still affects the quality of your sleep! Ear plugs are helpful for some. Other people find that white noise or soothing music are helpful if it's impossible to block out distracting sounds.

7. Don't keep checking the clock. Experts say that if your sleep is interrupted, checking the time will only increase anxiety about getting enough sleep, and make it harder to get back to sleep. ( I have a tough time following this one!)

8. Make sure you're comfortable! Are you sleeping on the right mattress? Are your pillows giving your neck the right amount of support? Too much tossing and turning could be a sign that one or both need replacing.

7 Superfoods for weight loss

The 7 superfoods in this article not only have weight loss properties but supreme health benefits that make them ideal members in any healthy weight loss regime.

Bee pollen:

Bee Pollen, around 40% protein with a staggering composition of nutrients, enzymes and phytochemicals, is a virtually complete food. As well as a plethora of health benefits, it is said to stimulate the metabolism, speeding up the burning of calories, and its high content of lecithin can help to flush fat from the body.

Bee pollen also functions as an appetite suppressant, containing the amino acid phenylalanine that is known to effect the area of the brain that deals with feelings of hunger and fullness. Unlike the chemical manmade derivative of phenylalanin called phenylpropanolamine used in commercial weight-loss products, phenylalanin is not addictive and has no negative side effects. Bee pollen also satiates the appetite and eliminates cravings because it is so nutrient-dense.

Chili:

The active ingredient in chilli called capsaicin is a thermogenic agent which helps to increase metabolism and the burning of calories and fat. This is why capsaicin is found in many natural weight loss formulas. Capsaicin is also believed to be an appetite suppressant. Two studies led by the same Japanese researcher (Yoshioka et al., British Journal of Nutrition; 1998, 1999), revealed the ability of cayenne to increase the metabolism of dietary fats in women as well as demonstrate modest reductions in appetite.

In addition to weight loss properties, capsaicin has been shown to relieve pain, sinusitis, psoriasis, migraines and arthritis, improve circulation and stomach conditions and inhibit the growth of cancer cells.

Coconut oil:

Dr. Weston A Price, the Darwin of nutrition writes, ‘Replacing the fats you now eat with coconut oil may be the wisest decision you can make to lose excess body fat…You can lose unwanted body fat by eating more saturated fat (in the form of coconut oil) and less polyunsaturated fat (processed vegetable oils). One of the remarkable things about coconut oil is that it can help you lose weight. Yes, there is a dietary fat that can actually help you take off unwanted pounds. Coconut oil can quite literally be called a low-fat fat.’

Coconut oil is unique from animal saturated fats in that it is comprised of medium chain fatty acids which are absorbed directly and used immediately for energy. Raymond Peat MD, author of Coconut Oil and Its Virtues, concludes, ‘The anti-obesity effect of coconut oil is clear in all of the animal studies, and in my friends who eat it regularly.’

Coconut oil has also been found to benefit a myriad of conditions from diabetes, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, digestive disorders, thyroid imbalances, and viral, bacterial and fungal infections.

Nettles:

Nettles contain serotonin, a mood enhancing neurotransmitter with a calming influence. Serotonin also plays a role in the feelings of satiation one experiences after eating, hence functions as an appetite suppressant. It is for this reason that serotonin supplements have been designed to tackle food cravings and aid slimming.

Studies have shown a direct link between obesity (due to overeating) and decreased brain levels of serotonin. This is no doubt one reason why the nettle has a traditional reputation for improving weight-loss. The late naturalist and wild-food forager Euel Gibbons claims, ‘stinging nettle is very efficacious in removing unwanted pounds!’.

Nettles are incredibly mineral dense and cleansing and detoxifying for the body. They are also great for skin, hair and nails as they contain the beautifying mineral sulphur.

Chocolate:

Cacao (aka pure chocolate), contains chemicals that increase levels of serotonin in the brain, and as such has appetite suppressing properties. The reason serotonin levels are raised on eating chocolate is because of the action of monoamine oxidase enzyme inhibitors (MAO inhibitors). These decrease our body’s ability to break down serotonin so that more of this neurotransmitter remains in the brain remains, creating feelings of fullness for longer.

Cacao is also exceptionally high in antioxidants, has potent aphrodisiac properties, healthy minerals and mood-boosting compounds such as PEA the ‘love chemical’.

Pure, unrefined chocolate contains none of the detriments of commercial products such as sugar, hydrogenated fats, milk, additives, agro-chemicals and solvents.

Green Tea:

A study published in the December 1999 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, led by Dr. Dullo at the University of Geneva, indicates that substances in green tea extract may actually promote weight loss. Men given a combination of both caffeine and green tea extract burned more fat calories than those given caffeine or placebo alone.

The scientists believed that the catechin flavonoids in green tea may alter the body's use of norepinephrine, a chemical transmitter in the nervous system, to increase the rate of calorie burning. They concluded, ‘Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se’.

Green tea is a potent antioxidant rich superfood that lowers cholesterol, reduces the risk of stroke, protects against cancer, prevents teeth cavities and has anti-inflammatory action.

Omega 3 Fish Oil:

Omega-3 oils serve numerous bodily processes and are particularly good for the immune system and heart as well as arthritis, skin conditions, pre-menstrual tension, mental function, improving memory and reducing depressive symptoms. Omega 3 oils also play a role in burning fats within the body and as such can aid weight-management.

This is due to its effects on insulin, reducing levels in the body. Insulin promotes the use of fat for storage and reduces the use of fat for fuel, hence lower insulin levels mean greater conversion of fat for energy rather than storage.

The best Omega-3 oil sources are oily fish like sardines, salmon and mackerel. Plant sources include flaxseeds (the richest plant source), walnuts, pumpkin seeds, green leafy vegetables, evening primrose oil, wheat germ and spirulina.

Beans, Beans and More Beans

Dry beans are among some of the healthiest foods on the planet. Beans are not only a complex carbohydrate, which provides sustained energy throughout the day, but also have many important nutrients such as, calcium, potassium, protein and folate. Plus, you get these benefits without the fat and cholesterol that meat or dairy products might contain. Many Americans do not get the recommended daily fiber they need (25-30 grams a day) and beans are an excellent way to meet these requirements. A cup of cooked black beans contains 8 grams of fiber and a cup of cooked pinto beans contains 12 grams.

One concern when cooking beans is the amount of time they take to fully process. There are a few things that can be done to help with this problem. The first is soaking beans over night. Soaking overnight will help the beans absorb moisture and shorten the time needed to cook them. Another excellent idea is to cook beans in the crock pot over night on low. In the morning they are fully cooked and ready to use or store. They can be rinsed, drained and stored up to a week in the refrigerator or frozen for several months. When cooking or soaking beans do not add salts to the pot or bowl, as salt will prevent the beans from fully cooking and will result in hard beans.

What do you do with your beans? There is no end to the healthy, useful ways to use dry beans in your everyday cooking and baking. The traditional and most frequent use of beans is simply cooked and placed in soups or chili's, mixed with rice or used as a side dish. Although those are excellent ways to incorporate beans into your diet there are many other ways as well.

One of the best kept secrets about beans is their ability to be ground into a fine flour. White beans are recommended as the best choice for bean flour. Bean flour can be substituted for 25% of flour in any recipe. For example, if a recipe calls for 2 cups all purpose flour, 1/2 cup bean flour may be used. For those whose families might not be receptive to beans on the table this is a great way to sneak them in. All the benefits of beans will be received in every day items like cookies and bread and no one will be the wiser. It is not recommended to tell them either as this might influence their interest in the items prepared. Bean flour can also be used to make soups creamy without dairy. To make 4 cups of "cream" soup simply heat 2 cups of water in a pan (do not boil) and 4 tsp chicken bouillon (or bouillon of choice). Combine 2 cups cold water with 1 cup bean flour and whisk until there are no lumps. Combine this flour paste with the heated water and bouillon and simmer of low for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. To make a thinner soup use less bean flour. Spices, vegetables or meat may be added to the soup base for a delicious and nutritious creamy soup without the calories, fat and dairy, plus this creamy soup has all the health of beans. This recipe may also be substituted for creamy condensed soups in casseroles or other dishes.

The other best kept secret is the use of pureed white beans in place of shortening, butter or margarine in baked goods. After the beans are cooked simply drain and place in a food processor, blender or mash with a fork to create a puree. It should be about the consistency of the fat you are replacing and may be substituted cup for cup or simply for half the fat in the recipe. If the beans are too thick and/or dry, just add a little water and stir in completely. Many ask, "how does it taste" [in cookies, etc.] and the answer is, you can't even tell! The foods are delicious and nutritious!

Beans will be filling, satisfying and incorporate many necessary nutrients into the diet. Combined with rice they are a complete protein and provide all the 8 amino acids for the body. They are inexpensive and packed full of flavor. It doesn't get much better than beans.

Watermelon: The Fresh Juicy Fruit With Numerous Health Benefits

Combining a healthy diet with regular exercise promotes health and may substantially reduce the risk of certain fatal diseases associated with old age. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains has always been of incredible health benefit. Watermelon, scientifically known as Citrullus lanatus, has a great potential as a basic food source and contributes to a healthy nutritional diet.

Watermelons were primarily grown on lighter soils in regions with warmer climates. Watermelons were a warm season crops consumed as dessert fruits and the rinds were used for making pickles and preserves. However, with increased market acceptance, better edible quality and long distance shipping adaptability, the growth of watermelons has increased worldwide. Certain breeds of watermelons have been developed to be more specific to regions of the world. The breeding has resulted in improved quality, which involves maximum sugar content, excellent flavor, and firm flesh with deep red color pigment due to the presence of lycopene.

The sweet, juicy watermelon is actually packed with some of the most important antioxidants in nature. It reduces the risk of fatal diseases like asthma, atherosclerosis, diabetes, colon cancer, and arthritis. Watermelon is rich in the B vitamins necessary for energy production. Watermelon is a very good source of vitamin B6 and a good source of vitamin B1, magnesium, and potassium. Watermelon has a high nutrient density due to the higher water content and lower calorie content than many other fruits. A rich source of vitamins A and C, watermelon also contains lycopene. Lycopene is a red pigment that occurs naturally in certain plant and algal tissues. In addition to giving watermelon and tomatoes their color it is an excellent anti-oxidant that can help prevent heart disease and some forms of cancer.

Up until a few decades ago, watermelon was largely a seasonal fruit that appeared in the market for a few months and then disappeared by the end of summer. Considering the current information regarding the health benefits of watermelon there has been a huge increase in the per capita watermelon consumption. The increase in imports during the winter and early spring is helping satisfy the consumer demand for year-round supplies of watermelon.

Selective plant breeding programs are being employed in order to improve the overall nutritional qualities of watermelon. Commercial companies are employing trained scientists to research and develop long-term solutions that lead to a better product quality in terms of higher sugar content and consequently increases acceptance among the consumers.

In terms of acreage, production, and per capita consumption watermelon is the leading U.S. melon crop. A recent survey indicates that the middle-income groups are the leading consumers of watermelon. The bulk of watermelon purchase has been from retail outlets and it is categorized as a home food. Among the top three melons, the honeydew variety is the most prevalent. Cantaloupe use is similar to watermelon with 16 percent purchased as food away from home.

Top 10 Benefits of Living Without TV

Think you can’t live without your electronic companion, the TV set? Think getting rid of TV would leave your life empty and meaningless? On the contrary, living without TV can be much more peaceful, enjoyable, healthier, and happier. Can you imagine...?

1. You miss all the attack ads during election season.

I did not see a single attack ad this past election—not one! The negativity. The distortions. The lies. I missed it all. It was almost as much fun as missing the negativity, lies, and distortions on the daily news. Instead, I researched the issues I thought were important. If you found the attack ads annoying during this past election, perhaps you could consider getting rid of your TV at least during the next election season.

2. Your mind becomes free of commercial jingles.

I no longer have any annoying commercial jingles running in my brain. I remember how annoying that used to be, when I had a TV. I very much enjoy the peace of mind that comes with their absence. All it takes to enjoy this peace of mind is to get rid of your TV.

3. Holidays are considerably less stressful.

I can tell that the “holiday season” has begun from displays in the stores. Otherwise, I am almost completely disconnected from the annoying orgy of materialistic hoopla, encouraging me to buy, buy, buy. In fact, all the holidays are more enjoyable without TV. Easter, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, New Years and all the other holidays are much less stressful.

4. You and your children can become addicted—to LEARNING.

A couple weeks ago, I taught my 6-year-old son how to do an online search for worms. Then, he wanted to learn about birds, frogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, and snails. He searches online and reads as many books as he can get his hands on. Like my son, I also use the internet to research and explore ideas and interests.

Some people tout the educational value of TV. My experience is that TV does not even begin to compare to books and the internet when it comes to learning. However, don’t take my word for it. Test this for yourself.

5. Your kids will stop nagging you for things they see on commercials.

My kids are not always angels, but since we got rid of the TV, they do not nag for things the way they used to. Furthermore, when I do get them toys, they play with them much more. Their toys are better matched to their interests. Furthermore, commercials, those Pied Pipers of materialism, are no longer leading them away from the toys they already have to the “latest/greatest” new toys.

6. You can wean your family from soft drinks and other junk food.

Soft drinks are one of the major culprits in the obesity epidemic. I weaned my children from soda. Once they were away from commercials for soda pop for a while, I simply started avoiding that isle in the supermarket. They occasionally get some soda as a treat. However, now when they are thirsty, they ask for water.

Furthermore, when they are bored, they play. The exercise plus the lack of soda helps make them more fit. If you are struggling to keep your children fit, getting rid of your TV may make that task considerably easier.

7. You will lose track of the latest escapades of Paris Hilton and other such notable celebrities.

Without a TV, I am blissfully cut off from the celebrity circus. Honestly, I did not even know who Paris Hilton was, until a friend mentioned her name on a forum. When it comes to celebrities, ignorance really is bliss. I have much better things to do with my time and energy. I am sure you do too.

8. You do not worry how the sex and violence on TV may affect your family.

It is simply not an issue. I do not need to write my Congressional representative to ask the government to fix the problem or even fret about the issue. That problem evaporated, when I got rid of our family TV. Personally, I only think about this issue insofar as it relates to my website. On that note, the problem is becoming worse, but only IF you have a TV.

9. You do not get upset about the trash on TV.

Recently, someone emailed me after getting extremely frustrated and upset about the content on TV. He did a search for “TV sucks” and somehow found my site. He shot off a note to me about how “TV SUCKS!”

It’s true—TV sucks. It can be tempting to rant and rave about the garbage on TV, but that takes up time and energy too. The solution is simple: Don’t get upset; just get rid of the darned TV. Your life will instantly become calmer and more pleasant.

10. You find the time to pursue your dreams.

After I got rid of my TV, I found myself pursuing old dreams that I had let slide over time. I am now close to realizing a dream that I originally thought would take a lifetime to accomplish. If you have ever said, “I don’t have time to pursue my dreams,” turn off your TV and the time will appear as if by magic.

Test it for yourself

It may be hard to believe that there are such benefits to living without TV. If any of these benefits sound appealing, test it. Don’t take my word for it. Get rid of your TV for a month and see how your life improves. You may see some of these benefits immediately, or you may need to go through a weeklong withdrawal period. By the end of the month, you will probably be pleasantly surprised at the improvements.

Parents! What Are Your Kids Doing Online?

Parents! Do you know what your children are doing online? Do you really know? When your son or daughter says they are doing homework on the computer, are they in an area where this can be verified? Or are they locked away in their bedroom, using the computer to do who knows what?

Millions of Americans were riveted to their television screens during the series "To Catch a Predator" that Dateline NBC aired showing dozens of predators who were attempting to meet up with people they thought were teenagers. In most of the cases, the men caught on tape on Dateline NBC thought they were going to the home of a 13 year old whose parents were out of town. 13 years old!!

These people were folks from every walk of life. There was a teacher, a rabbi (!), a busdriver. What was really shocking was that many of these folks already were working with children in their jobs every day.

YouTube ran a spot that showed what a chatroom would look like if the people involved were actually in a room together. You might wonder "what is that 50-something, married bald man doing talking to the 14 year old girl?" Of course he told the girl that he was 15. And who is the 'Psycho' guy who's obviously mad at the world and everyone in it? And who are those two single guys over in the corner having a private conversation? Except for the twist at the end, this YouTube spot was pretty true to life about what chatrooms are like and the type of people who frequent them.

Chatrooms are extremely popular among teens and young adults. Chatrooms are also targeted by predators trying to get with these kids for sex. This was obvious in To Catch a Predator and is inferred in the YouTube spot I mentioned. Social networking sites are also common among the young.

MySpace has been in the news lately because of the predators on that site looking for young people to victimize. MySpace and Facebook are the two top sites known as 'networking' sites for people to make friends. However, because of the relative 'anonymity' of the Internet, these are places that predators frequent looking for children to victimize. Many parents are wary of letting their children have a MySpace account at all; however, quite a few teachers and school personnel are reporting that kids as young as 5th grade claim to have profiles on MySpace.

On a forum that I like to frequent (which has a large number of users who are parents), one of the posters reported that some strange words had come up during searches. Words like "sex", "boobs", etc. This poster has several children; among them a son who is 11. However, shockingly enough, it wasn't the 11 year old who had been searching for these terms online. It was her six year old and his friends!! Six years old!! Now, I know kids will be curious and boys will give in to their curiosities. This is a normal part of growing up. But if I were the parent, I'd want my child's curiosities NOT abused by an online predator, looking to make a victim out of my kid.

What can parents do to ensure the safety of their children? First of all, parents need to talk to their children often about what types of things their children are interested in. Not only is this good communication, this can ensure the safety of a child. Second, parents can warn their children about online predators and how they often appear to be a friend at first. Third, parents must warn their children NOT to EVER give personal information out on the internet. No real names, phone numbers, addresses, or whatever. Fourth, parents must create a line of communication that allows their children to come to them and talk about it if they have been frightened or disturbed by someone online.

The FBI and law enforcement have been working toward making the internet a safer place for people in general. It is easier today than it was even six months ago to catch and prosectute an online stalker. This is an evolving subject for law enforcement, but great strides have already been made. If you feel your child was threatened, contact law enforement.

Parenting Two Under Two - The Good, The Bad and The Foggy

I'll never forget the day I found out I was pregnant with my second child. I'd spent nearly all day in bed watching afternoon talk shows with my six month old daughter laying on my chest. I was exhausted and nauseous. The last time I felt that sick, I was pregnant. Oh my goodness, I couldn't be...could I? Nah. It took us nearly two years to get pregnant with my daughter. There is no way I got pregnant that quickly with a second child. My head was spinning. I ran to the bathroom and puked...again.

I bundled up the baby and made a bee-line to the drug store. As I set the pregnancy test stick near the scanner I watched the clerk look at me...and then the pregnancy test...and then my baby...and then me again. I am fairly certain he was doing the math in his head. He smirked. "Would you PLEASE just scan the freekin test?" I said under my breath.

I walked in the house and threw up again. Boy, this flu bug is killing me, I thought. I was clearly in denial. I set the test stick on the counter and avoided it. If I didn't take the test, I wouldn't be pregnant...right? I cleaned up around it. I ate lunch around it. I even considered stirring my coffee with it when I couldn't find a clean spoon.

It was a bit ironic. I used to love those little sticks. I would anxiously tear them open and...(well, you know what comes next). I would gaze longingly at the little spot where the second little line might appear. On the glorious day it actually did appear, I ran up to my husband and tried to shove it in his hand. He lurched back. (I was so excited that I forgot to clean it off, woops). We are pregnant! I squealed.

This time was different. I didn't want to be pregnant. I couldn't be pregnant. I barely figured out how to take care of this one...much less another one. We couldn't afford a baby and I didn't want another baby. There was that second line I'd only had the pleasure of seeing once before. It looked florescent this time. I've probably taken 50 pregnancy tests and I've never, ever seen such a clear, bright line. I puked...again. Only this time, it was due to nerves.

I spent the rest of the day trying to figure out how to tell my husband. Should I buy him balloons, a cake, cookies? Maybe if I turned it into a celebration we would forget how ill-prepared we were for a second child. As I was planning the "we don't want another baby...but 'oh-well' celebration", my husband arrived home early from work..

I couldn't stand it. "Honey, I have to tell you something". "You aren't pregnant again, are you?" He laughed. "Not funny", I grumbled. "Yes..WE are", I replied, sarcastically. He walked into the bathroom. I think he puked too. "Well, we'll make it work", he said. He sounded sincere. "Okay then".

I am not sure if we said anything else that night or for the next eight months for that matter. We didn't really talk much about the baby even though our excitement started to grow with every prenatal appointment. "We'll make it work" became our mantra. And we did. My daughter had just taken her first steps around the time my son was born.

While this is the part of the article where I should be giving you tips on how we made it work, I can't. Quite honestly, I don't remember much. I remember changing a ton of diapers, pushing around a super heavy double stroller, having back pain from lugging around a toddler on one hip and a bulky car-seat on the other. I also remember getting up between one and five times every night for two years straight to tend to a crying baby. That's about it.

My son is almost three now and my daughter will turn four this summer. The fog has lifted. Suddenly, I am sleeping again. I know what it feels like to take a long, hot shower again. I can shave my legs, fix my hair and apply makeup now. I even smell good. The other day, I read a magazine, drank a cup of coffee and watched a reality TV show without interruption. Pinch me.

My kids are a bit more independent now and I am enjoying some much deserved "me-time". They play together. They like each other and they entertain each other. It is great.

If you are reading this in panic mode while awaiting a second baby I am probably going to disappoint you. I don't have any profound advice, tips or words of wisdom to offer. In fact, I'm not going to lie and suggest that it is easy. Two under two is hard. You won't get much sleep, you won't have much time to yourself and you will probably be running non-stop.

That being said, I am LOVING "two under four". It is fun, it is profoundly easier and I blessed with non-stop laughter at the antics of two preschoolers. Who knows, I might even be ready to try "three under five" soon (just kidding, honey).

5 Ways to Get Faster Results From Your Raw Food Diet

When I first learned about the raw food diet, it took me years to figure out how to do it properly. Then it took me even more years - making mistakes and compromising my health - until I started experiencing the benefits I was looking for from the start!

Let's face it, if you're going to bother changing your diet at all, there's got to be a reason for doing it. I would bet you want to improve your health and energy, right?

But why take years to get those results, when you can get them in months or even weeks? Here are some of the things that I've found can help you get faster results from your raw food diet.

1. Incorporate Fitness

It's interesting to note that even though a person may be fit but unhealthy (think of all the athletes who died of a heart attack!), it's *not* possible to be healthy without being fit.

Until you reach the point where your body fat is at an optimal level and your fitness “above average”, you probably won't get all the results you're looking for even with an ideal diet.

Fit people not only digest better, the entire process of nutrition is improved with improved fitness. This means assimilation will be better, blood sugar will be more under control, and much more besides.

To start improving your fitness, you have to identify your areas of weakness and work on improving these first. We explain how to do this in the Perfect Health Program and we put it into action in our 30-Day Body Enlightenment System.

2. Address Emotional Issues

Just like fitness, your emotions are an integral part of your nutrition. You've probably had the experience of hearing a piece of bad news and suddenly losing your appetite. This shows that emotions are an integral part of how your body processes food. It's an essential part of your health.

Often people jump into a raw-food diet, hoping that it will help them “clear emotional problems”, when in fact it puts these problems right in their face and they can't deal with it!

Let's face the fact that most people eat for emotional reasons, most of the time. It's really easy to do so with heavily processed or fatty foods, because these foods literally “drug” us and “numb” our feelings.

With raw foods, it's harder to eat emotionally. That's why you don't see lonely overweight people eating buckets of apples to “comfort” their feelings. Instead, they do it with a pint of ice-cream!

Be aware and ready to feel and face your emotions. Equip yourself with whatever tools are necessary to get over emotional baggage - including self-improvement seminars, tapes, and group support.

3. Cleanse

One of the best ways to accelerate your health success is to go on some sort of cleanse, such as the Green Cleanse or the one included in the Body Enlightenment System.

A cleanse should be easy to do, while giving you results in terms of increased energy, weight *release* (if necessary), and increased vitality and health.

My favorite cleanses are:

- Green Cleanse: consuming only green smoothies and fruit for 5 to 10 days or longer.

- Fruit Cleanse: consuming only mono meals of fruit for 3 to 7 days or longer.

- Low Fat Cleanse: consuming only fruits and vegetables without any fat (avocados, oils, etc.) for 3 to 7 days or longer.

While it's possible to do a cleanse on your own, it's best if you have someone to coach and support you in the process.

4. Find Raw Friends

Feeling alone and isolated can kill your success with the raw diet! It's very important to find at least one “buddy” who can support and encourage you on this path.

Now with the Internet, it's possible to connect with more people than ever. In our different programs (such as the Body Enlightenment System), we have seen the value of offering phone coaching and support, as well as discussion forum support.

Connect with other raw-food enthusiasts using available resources, such as local potlucks, teleseminars and phone coaching, coaching programs and discussion forums.

5. Get a Coach and a System

Besides lack of social support, the reason why most people don't succeed with a raw-food program is that they don't have anybody coaching them personally and showing them a system that works for incorporating all of the different elements of a healthy lifestyle.

Unless you think you can do it on your own, you need someone to show you a system that works!

No matter what the coach and system you choose for yourself, you have to make sure that:

- You find a supportive and non-judgmental coaching environment, yet one that challenges you enough to keep improving.

- You have enough quality tools and easy-to-use systems to make progress with your health, fitness and diet.

- The support you get is *constant* or *daily*, not just occasional.

- The program or coach you choose has a track record of success and lots of experience in the field.

Make no mistake about it, you can either take 2 months to put all of the pieces of a healthy raw lifestyle together, or you can take 2 years or 20 years! Do yourself a favor and choose the shortest route to success.

Menopause and Incontinence

Menopause can bring uncomfortable symptoms such as incontinence in several different forms. Even younger women experience occasional bouts of urinary leakage during pregnancy, after childbirth, and sometimes even during sex. But menses seems to bring out more occasions of uncontrollable incontinence.

This inability to control your bladder can happen when you put pressure on yourself by wrenching your gut due to laughing or yelling, sneezing and coughing. The condition worsens if your bladder is full. Incontinence can also feel like a strong, uncontrollable urge to pass urine resulting in continuous leakage. Sometimes the sound of running water can trigger this urge.

There is also overflow incontinence. No matter how many times you frequent the restroom and urinate, there are always some urine leaked. This is a result of function of the nerve supply to the bladder being impaired and the consequence is a distended bladder that leak when over filled. Women with this condition do not feel the urge top ass urine. Delaying the need to pass urine can cause this type of incontinence.

If you experience continuous incontinence, there is leakage of urine more or less all of the time without warning. Although this type is uncommon it is caused by abnormalities in the urinary tract which may be congenital or resulting from childbirth, or from surgery such as hysterectomy and medical treatments such as radiation.

Bouts of incontinence can also be due to menopause, specifically hormonal imbalances. Producing less can cause the lining of the bladder to weaken, causing irreparable control of bladder movement. The older we get, the harder it is for us to hold back our urine - bladders get weaker and reaction times become slower.

Depending on the type of incontinence you are experiencing, your doctor may recommend from several types of treatment. Antibiotics are sometimes required to treat infection. Drugs can be taken that control abnormal bladder contractions or to create contraction in an over distended bladder.

Balancing your hormones with either HRT or natural, bioidentical replacement therapy can significantly relieve stress incontinence. And, of course there are the traditional pelvic floor exercises and kegels to strengthen the muscles surrounding the urethra and vagina. In more severe cases, surgery may be required or electrical stimulation of the muscles around the bladder. This is definitely one your need to work out with your doctor.

Help Your Doctor Help You With Your Headache

Every single year, almost 75% of American suffer with headaches. They are often scared that they may have a brain tumor or a stroke.

Benign (harmless) headaches can sometimes be just as severe as those from a more sinister cause. The first concern of the Doctor is to make sure what is causing your headache. To do this, he relys on the person's descriptions of the symptoms, any pattern that the headaches may follow and any possible triggers.

So what sort of things will your Doctor be looking at? If you are planning to visit your Doctor because of headaches, this list will be a useful check point for you. Having the answers to these questions will help both you and your Doctor.

How long have these headaches been going on?

As a general rule, the longer you have been suffering a similar sort of headache – the more likely it is to be harmless (however debilitating or painful). Sufferers with migraine will often have started having them as a child, teen or young adult. Migraine may finish when a woman begins her menopause – but they can also start at that time, too. Tension headaches can start at any time.

Does anyone else in your family suffer with headaches? Migraines can often run in families but cluster headaches don’t.

How frequently do you suffer with these headaches?

Your doctor will want to you to tell him how many times a day, month or year you get headaches. This will help to decide whether the treatment should be:

Prophylactic (preventing the headaches from starting)

Abortive (trying to stop a headache attack that is already happening)

Has the pattern of your headaches changed – or are you getting them more often?

Many people struggle on with headaches for months or even years. What finally brings them to the Doctor is a change in that pattern or the headaches becoming more severe. The Doctor will want to know what is causing your headache and check out the things that might be making it worse.

When you have a headache, where is the pain located?

The location will help your Doctor to diagnose what type your headache is. For instance:

Migraine: anywhere in the head but most common in the temple area.

Tension headaches: Felt on one or both sides. May be in the front. Commonly most intense in the neck, shoulder and back of the head.

Cluster headaches: always on one side – usually around the eye.

Try and describe the pain for me?

Again, this will help with the diagnosis:

Migraine: commonly throbbing or pulsating

Tension headache: dull, dragging ache – often tight band

Cluster headaches: Deep and intensely painful as if something sharp and hot is being pushed into the eye

Do you have any other symptoms with the headache?

Migraine: losing appetite, feeling sick, being sick, dislike of light and/ or noise

Tension headaches: stiff or sore neck, grinding teeth at night, clenched jaw

Cluster headaches: watering eye, blocked nose

How long does the headache last?

Migraine: commonly less than 24 hours. Or may be as short as 20 minutes or go on for weeks – although less common. Usually a pain-free period between migraines.

Tension headache: Can last for days, weeks and rarely, years.

Cluster headache: Very severe, but short. Usually 30-90 minutes, repeated 2-6 times during a ‘bout’

Do your headaches always seem to be at a particular time?

Migraine: The sufferer often wakes up with one. May happen more at weekends. Women with menstrual migraine may have them a few days before their period.

Tension headaches: Commonly during stressful times.

Cluster headaches: Often wake the person from a deep sleep at night.

Have you or your family noticed your behavior or mood changing because of the headaches?

Migraine: Person can become withdrawn, easily irritated and want to be on their own.

Tension headaches: Happy to receive care and attention.

Cluster headaches: The person may pace up and down, hold their head or rock during an attack.

Headache sufferers are at a higher risk of depression due to their condition (or sometimes the depression causes the condition).

Signs of depression that the Doctor is looking for are:

Poor sleeping – either too much or too little

Feeling tired all the time

Loss of appetite

Loss of interest in sex

Do you get any warning signs that a headache is going to start?

15% of all migraine sufferers may get a warning in the form of an ‘aura’. This is often seeing dazzling lights or zig-zag lines.

Numbness and/or noticing a distinctive odor are also auras.

If you have an aura that carries on after your headache has finished, make sure you tell the Doctor.

Have you noticed anything particular triggering your headaches?

Headaches and migraines can have many triggers. If you know what yours are, that’s fine. If not, it may help to keep a headache diary – which includes what you have eaten and done during that day. This will help the Doctor to find out what is causing your headache and what type it is.

Knowing the answers to these questions will help your doctor determine the typr of headasche you have and the best way to combat the pain.
